The Meaning Behind the Name
The name Ghel has deep roots. Archaically, it comes from a word meaning to shine. Furthermore, it’s also a quiet nod to the town of Geel in Belgium, where for centuries, family homes welcomed people with mental illness—not as patients, but as people. As a result, in that town, healing happened through connection, dignity, and everyday life.
Similarly, at Ghel Practice, I carry both meanings forward. Indeed, I believe healing begins when I see you—genuinely and without judgment—and support you in rediscovering your own strength and direction.

As a psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience, I work with adults across a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSB, trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions.
